EARLY EDUCATION & ELEMENTARY

Fostering growth for the whole child…

MCA Early Education is a Christ-centered, play-based program designed to foster growth for the whole child.

Our Christ-centered, play-based program is designed to nurture the whole child—spiritually, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Instruction is guided by the eight “great smarts”: logic, word, music, picture, nature, body, self,
and people. Children explore phonics, math, fine and gross motor skills, science, social studies,
and more in a dynamic, engaging environment.

MCA classes offer a safe and stimulating environment for all learners.
Small class sizes are vital to the MCA Early Ed program, and teachers differentiate learning experiences
to accommodate each learner's unique strengths and abilities.

CHRIST-CENTERED Program

Every aspect of our program reflects our Christian faith - morning assemblies, Bible lessons, events, instruction, and biblical approaches to behavior management. We instill a love of worship, an understanding of our need for a Savior, and deep compassion for others in all we do.

Play-Based Curriculum

We emphasize the process of learning and discovery over the result. Research proves that children acquire the foundations for reading, writing, and logical thinking through play. We support children in their active explorations and instill confidence in them as independent and inquisitive learners. We provide a safe environment rich in developmentally appropriate materials and experiences, where we invite children to explore and take risks.

MCA teachers incorporate holistic learning activities and measure growth across every domain (spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and intellectual). Assessments include quarterly narratives, standard-based check-ins, and a student portfolio that displays a child's individual developmental process through work samples, teacher observations, and photographs.

ELEMENTARY

With the Bible as the foundation of our curriculum, students deepen their understanding through scripture study, memorization, and character development, fostering a strong biblical worldview. Instruction includes a science-of-reading-based English language arts curriculum, mathematics aligned with Common Core standards, enriched with manipulatives, fact fluency, and higher-order thinking skills in both computation and reasoning. Science and social studies are reading-intensive, promoting interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking.

Bible Study: The study of the Bible is at the core of our curriculum. Students memorize scripture and develop strong character traits rooted in a biblical worldview. Our integrative curriculum, Building on the Rock, combines Bible survey instruction with worldview training, guiding students in building essential wisdom and nurturing relationships with God, others, and the world around them.

Literacy: Literacy is a primary focus of our instruction, encompassing reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These skills are modeled, explicitly taught, and regularly assessed. We use Wilson Fundations® as our primary resource for phonemic awareness, phonics, high-frequency word study, spelling, and handwriting. Wit & Wisdom, a science-of-reading-based curriculum, provides the foundation for reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing instruction, where students interact deeply with literature through teacher modeling, small group discussions, and presentations. English Language Arts instruction is further enriched with Zaner-Bloser Grammar, Learning Without Tears Handwriting, and Heggerty Phonics.

Mathematics: Our math instruction combines teacher-led lessons with guided and independent practice. Daily activities include fact drills, mental math exercises, and manipulatives to reinforce critical concepts. We use McGraw Hill’s MyMath, which emphasizes computational procedures and conceptual understanding to foster efficiency, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Science and Social Studies: In science, students explore God's creation through studies in physical, life, and earth sciences, honing skills in inquiry, experimentation, and recording results. Social studies introduce students to God's people through geography, civics, economics, culture, and history, both American and global. These subjects encourage engaging discussions on social, moral, and ethical issues. For science, we use a Christian curriculum from BJU Press. Social studies instruction is supported by the SAVVAS myWorld Interactive curriculum, paired with Biblical worldview fluency and integration training to help students develop a robust biblical worldview.
